The Delhi team, captained by Axar Patel, narrowly lost to the Mumbai Indians, while the Rajasthan Royals suffered a significant defeat, falling to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by nine wickets.

These losses have revealed significant weaknesses in both teams. The Delhi Capitals, having lost their opening match of the IPL 2025 season, have struggled to establish strong starts, largely due to the underwhelming performance of Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk.

After five matches, the right-handed batsman has yet to find his rhythm. With Karun Nair contributing 89 runs as an impact substitute against the Mumbai Indians and uncertainty surrounding Faf du Plessis' availability, the management may consider replacing McGurk with Donovan Ferreira.

Abishek Porel could partner with Karun Nair or KL Rahul at the top of the order. The latter previously opened for Delhi against the Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. Given that the team has secured four victories, they are likely to make no further alterations to the playing XI.

On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals, the inaugural champions of the IPL, have struggled to regain their form in the current 18th edition of the tournament. The spin duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana has not been effective in troubling their opponents, which may lead Sanju Samson and Rahul Dravid to consider substituting Theekshana with Kwena Maphaka in the lineup.

The Royals have also been inconsistent with their middle order, resulting in Shimron Hetmyer not receiving sufficient opportunities to bat. Sanju has shown fluctuating performance throughout the tournament, highlighting the need for greater consistency.

Currently, the Delhi Capitals sit in second place on the points table, while the Rajasthan Royals are positioned eighth.
