Ira Jadhav Makes History with Unbeaten 346, Leading Mumbai to 544-Run Victory

Fourteen-year-old Ira Jadhav achieved an astonishing unbeaten score of 346 runs off 157 balls, propelling Mumbai to a remarkable victory by 544 runs against Meghalaya in the Women's Under-19 One Day Trophy. Jadhav's performance included an impressive tally of 42 fours and 16 sixes, resulting in a strike rate of 220.38 as she guided Mumbai to a total of 563/3 while batting first.

Despite these extraordinary statistics, Jadhav did not surpass the record for the highest individual score in a women's Under-19 match. That distinction is held by South Africa's Lizelle Lee, who recorded an unbeaten 427 runs while representing Mpumalanga against Kei in 2010.

How Jadhav destroyed the Meghalaya bowling attack

Jadhav's initial partnership with Alina Mulla yielded a modest total of 39 runs. However, she subsequently formed a remarkable 274-run partnership for the second wicket with her captain, Hurley Gala, who scored an impressive 116 runs off 79 deliveries. By the time Gala was dismissed, Mumbai had amassed 313 runs in under 32 overs, with Jadhav contributing a significant 149 runs from 71 balls.

Following this, Jadhav established a partnership of 186 runs with Diksha Pawar, who managed to score 39 runs off 35 balls. Jadhav's remarkable contribution to this partnership was an astonishing 137 runs off just 50 balls. Pawar was dismissed when Mumbai was just one run shy of reaching 500 in the 45th over. The team then added 64 runs in the remaining six overs and three balls. In the face of such aggressive batting, three bowlers from Meghalaya conceded 100 runs or more.

Jadhav went unsold in the 2025 Women's Premier League auction, despite being the youngest player to enter the fray. She is currently a student at Shardashram Vidyamandir International School, which has produced notable alumni such as Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, and Ajit Agarkar. Shortly after the WPL auction, Jadhav was named among the standbys for India's Under-19 T20 World Cup squad, which is set to compete in Malaysia.
