A significant milestone was reached by Virat Kohli during the ICC Champions Trophy match against Pakistan, as he not only secured the winning runs with a boundary but also achieved his record-extending 51st ODI century.

With India comfortably progressing towards victory, Kohli's steady innings served as the foundation for the run chase. The concluding overs were filled with excitement as Kohli aimed to complete his century while the target continued to diminish.

Cameras captured Rohit Sharma sharing a light-hearted moment with the team management as Kohli approached his milestone, and he later congratulated his long-time teammate with a warm embrace following the match's conclusion.

In the post-match press conference, Rohit Sharma reflected on the sentiments within the dressing room regarding Kohli's performance at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

“Virat Kohli has a deep passion for representing India. More importantly, he is eager to be on the field for the team, excelling in what he does best, which is precisely what he demonstrated today,” Rohit stated.

“Throughout the years, we have witnessed his capabilities. Those of us in the dressing room are not surprised by his achievements. It was beneficial for him to see the game through,” Rohit added during the post-match discussion.

‘I’ll praise his fitness…'

Kohli reached his century with only his seventh boundary of the innings, indicating that he accumulated just 28 runs of his total 100* from boundaries. He also noted the physical toll of playing in the warm Dubai climate, especially after a long day of fielding, which made his extensive running during the innings particularly challenging.

"Honestly, at 36, it feels really rewarding," Kohli remarked. "I will take a few days to rest, as exerting that level of effort in every match is quite demanding."

Kohli's performance received praise from the opposing captain, Mohammad Rizwan, who acknowledged the dedication required to achieve such a feat.

"I am genuinely impressed by Virat Kohli's work ethic. His fitness and commitment are commendable; while some may claim he is out of form, he executed his innings with remarkable ease tonight," stated the captain of Pakistan.

Throughout the innings, Kohli was well-supported by Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, both of whom scored half-centuries, following a brisk start provided by Rohit Sharma during the powerplay. Earlier, India's bowling was spearheaded by Kuldeep Yadav, who took three wickets, along with two vital wickets from Hardik Pandya.
