India's Young Star Cleared to Play After Injury in England Series, Ready for IPL 2025 Return

Young Indian cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy is reportedly poised to rejoin the Sunrisers Hyderabad team for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025 season after successfully recovering from a side strain that has kept him out of action since January. As per PTI, the all-rounder has successfully passed all fitness evaluations, including the yo-yo test, at the BCCI Centre of Excellence and has received medical clearance from the board's physiotherapists.
The 21-year-old from Andhra Pradesh last represented India in the first T20I against England at Eden Gardens on January 22, although he did not have the opportunity to bat or bowl in that match.
Despite training in the nets prior to the second T20I in Chennai, he was ultimately ruled out for the remainder of the series due to his injury.
Nitish's reputation soared following a remarkable IPL 2024 season, where he scored 303 runs in 13 matches at an impressive strike rate of 143. His outstanding performances led to his retention by SRH for INR 6 crore ahead of last year's auction, underscoring the franchise's confidence in his potential.
Further solidifying his standing, Nitish showcased his talent during India's tour of Australia, where he played pivotal innings, including a determined 114 in the fourth Test in Melbourne.
Now fully fit, Nitish is set to rejoin the SRH squad as they prepare for their IPL 2025 opener against the Rajasthan Royals on March 23 in Hyderabad.
SRH begin campaign against RR
Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 23 in an afternoon match at home. The side finished runners-up in the previous season of the tournament, facing a rather one-sided defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders.
For SRH, Nitish’s availability strengthens both their batting depth and all-round capabilities. Pat Cummins, the SRH captain, is also expected to be available in the tournament's opener after he was ruled out of Australia's Champions Trophy campaign with an injury.
