Emerging cricketers Sai Sudharsan and Priyansh Arya are poised to take the spots of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, and Riyan Parag in the Indian team if the latter do not improve their performance and achieve consistent scoring in the IPL, according to former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali. Arya shone for Punjab Kings by scoring the second-fastest IPL century by an Indian, reaching the milestone in just 39 balls against CSK. Meanwhile, Sudharsan has established himself as one of the leading batsmen this season, accumulating three half-centuries in five matches and currently ranking second in the Orange Cap standings with 273 runs at a strike rate of 151.

Sudharsan was named Player of the Match for his impressive 82 runs off 53 balls against Rajasthan Royals, which contributed to GT's comfortable victory and propelled them to the top of the table. Basit praised Sudharsan as a "top-class player," highlighting his proficiency in executing cut and pull shots.

"It was an exceptional innings from Sai Sudharsan. I noticed a spark in his eyes during his post-match interview, particularly when he mentioned facing Jofra Archer. He clearly contemplates his game. WV Raman accurately noted that he excels at pull and cut shots. He has the potential for a long career," Basit remarked on his YouTube channel.

The former Pakistan batsman also issued a warning to Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag, who have struggled to maintain consistent scoring in the 18th season of the IPL.

"Rinku Singh, you need to step up; Jaiswal, you must improve; Parag, it's time to elevate your game. These young talents are not going to let up. Whether it's Arya or Sai Sudharsan, they are eagerly waiting for any opportunity. Once they seize it, they will break into the Indian team. Remember my words."

I initially believed that Sudharsan was 27 or 28 years old, but I later discovered that he is only 23. His passion for cricket is evident in his demeanor and expressions. He is truly dedicated to the sport and is destined to become one of the top cricketers, he remarked.

Basit further expressed that the legendary Indian players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma made a wise decision by retiring from T20 internationals following India's triumphant campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

"Kohli and Sharma made the right choice to step back. I had thought Kohli might continue, but after observing the younger players, I have come to realize that India has a wealth of talent," he stated.

Basit also delivered a strong message to the struggling Jaiswal, urging him to refocus on cricket and avoid a trajectory similar to that of Prithvi Shaw, who was once hailed as a promising young talent destined for greatness in international cricket.

Since returning from Australia after a disappointing 3-1 series loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Jaiswal has struggled to find his form.

Aside from scoring 67 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, his bat has been largely silent. The 23-year-old, who was once the standout player for the Rajasthan Royals, now faces the challenge of living up to his potential as the matches come thick and fast in the competitive and lucrative league.

"His enthusiasm seems to have waned. Jaiswal is not concentrating on cricket. This is my direct message: Cricket can bring immense sorrow. Look at Prithvi Shaw. Embrace cricket with passion," Basit emphasized.
