India has been selected to host the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup for Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun in 2025. This is another significant achievement for the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). It marks the third major ISSF event to take place in India, following the senior World Cup in Bhopal in 2023 and the ISSF World Cup Final earlier this year, further establishing India as a key player in the global shooting sports scene.
After receiving the official confirmation from the ISSF on December 20, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, the NRAI president, expressed his enthusiasm: “We had a productive executive committee meeting in Rome last month, where all member federations and ISSF President Luciano Rossi praised India for its excellent hosting of international shooting events and its role in promoting the sport worldwide. We had a good feeling about it then, and now that we have the official word, we’re thrilled and ready to give it our all. We’re truly grateful to the Government of India and the Ministry of Sports for their unwavering support in our mission to advance shooting sports in the country.”
This will mark the ninth major Shooting championship in India in the last ten years, but it's the first time the ISSF Junior World Cup is being hosted here. Previously, India has held two continental championships and six ISSF events, which include two World Cup Finals and four senior ISSF World Cups.
In 2025, Indian shooting ranges are set to be bustling with activity, as the inaugural Shooting League of India (SLI) is scheduled for the first half of the year, along with the usual national competitions that happen throughout the year, leading up to the national championships.
