On Sunday, the India Masters achieved a resounding victory over the West Indies in the IML T20 Final held in Raipur. Under the leadership of Sachin Tendulkar, the home team successfully chased down a target of 149 runs in just 17.1 overs, securing the win by six wickets.

Although Sachin did not score a significant innings, he made valuable contributions with some elegant boundaries, showcasing his classic upper-cuts.

During the final over of the powerplay, Sachin faced Jerome Taylor and struck the bowler for a four followed by a six on consecutive deliveries. This six evoked memories of his remarkable shot against Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar during the 2003 World Cup, which is often regarded as one of the finest shots of his career.

In that match, India was pursuing a total of 274 runs, and Sachin was dismissed by Akhtar for 98 runs. Nevertheless, India emerged victorious. Sachin's shot selection effectively disrupted the Pakistan pacer's strategy and undermined his confidence. In the second over of the chase, he sent a short and wide delivery from Akhtar soaring over the third-man region for a spectacular six, followed by two additional boundaries off the next deliveries.

In pursuit of 149 runs, India swiftly reached 149/4 in just 17.1 overs, with opener Ambati Rayudu delivering an impressive performance, scoring 74 runs off 50 balls, which included nine fours and three sixes, exemplifying the essence of T20 cricket. Earlier, Vinay Kumar's remarkable three-wicket haul helped India limit the West Indies to 148/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Lendl Simmons contributed significantly to the West Indies' total, achieving a half-century with 57 runs off 41 balls. Following their victory, the India Masters players celebrated by taking a lap around the ground, reminiscing about past glories while expressing gratitude to the enthusiastic Raipur crowd for their unwavering support.

In a post-match interview, Yusuf Pathan of the India Masters remarked, “Winning the inaugural edition of a tournament is always a remarkable experience. The pressure of donning the blue jersey is unparalleled. The Indian logo carries immense responsibility. Many cricketers aspire to share the dressing room with Sachin paaji, who has had an illustrious career. He is often referred to as the 'God of Cricket,' and there is so much to learn from him.”
