The All India Selection Committee has decided to reteian the same squad for the second Test against Bangladesh. The second Test will be played in Kanpur from 27th September.

India vs Bangladesh 1st Test, Day 4: Ravichandran Ashwin was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance. The veteran spinner said he is enjoying playing cricket in this phase of his career.

"Every time I play in Chennai, it's an amazing feeling for me. I have watched a lot of Test cricket and international cricket sitting in those stands. I am probably enjoying my play because what I am doing. It was an opportunity to fight and dig in deep," he said.

He slammed a brilliant century in the first innings which he called a special knock and thanked Ravindra Jadeja for helping him during their partnership.

"I kept it simple, have to thank Jadeja who helped me. Quite a special knock, didn't sink in till day two," he added.

R Ashwin has made it quite clear that bowling comes first for him.

"I make a living by bowling. Bowling comes first. Batting is something that comes naturally. Over the last few years, I have tried to compartmentalize," he concluded.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma was elated by the result, which the team wanted despite not playing red-ball cricket for five months.

"It was a great result looking at what lies ahead for us. We are playing after a long time, but you are never out of cricket. We came here a week before, we wanted the result we wanted," Rohit said after the 280-run win in Chennai.

The Indian skipper also talked about Rishabh Pant instant impact on his comeback with a fine century in the second innings.

"He's been through some really tough times. The way he has managed himself was superb to watch. He came back in the IPL, followed by a successful World Cup and this is a format he loves the most. It was about giving him the game time. Credit to him, he had an impact straightaway. No matter what the conditions are, we want to build the team around that. In the last few years, wherever we have played, we have managed to have that in the armoury," he said.

Rohit said that the batters and bowlers showed a lot of patience which was required on the red soil.

"You have to give credit to the guys, they want to put their hand up. The red soil pitch always has something to offer. You need to have a little bit of patience as well. This was a pitch where we had to show a lot of patience. We were patient enough with the bat and with the ball as well to put them under pressure," he added.

The Indian captain further talked about the match-winning performance by Ravichandran Ashwin who claimed a six-fer in second innings and scored a century in first.

"He's always there for us with the ball and bat. Every time we see him, it's always beautiful. He's never out of the game. He had some fun bating in the TNPL," he concluded.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto shared the positives from the first Test despite a heavy defeat.

“The positive thing is the way Hasan, Taskin and Nahid Rana bowled in the first innings. They (India) batted really well. Seaming option - everyone contributed. We have bowled well with the new ball but we have to continue that,” Shanto said in the post-match presentation.

Chasing a mammoth 515 victory target, Bangladesh were all out for 234, with only skipper Najmul (82) putting up some fightback.

The visiting captain also talked about his own batting after the defeat.

“As a batter, I always try to contribute. I enjoy my batting. Just try to bat as long as possible without thinking about the result, that's what we wanted to do,” he concluded.
