India's T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, was highly impressed by Ashutosh Sharma's performance during the IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Monday. Entering the game as an Impact Substitute for the DC XI, Ashutosh delivered an outstanding innings, scoring an unbeaten 66 runs off just 31 balls, which propelled his team to successfully chase down a target of 210 runs in 19.3 overs, with one wicket remaining. His remarkable performance included five sixes, culminating in a final six that sealed the victory.

Suryakumar, who captained the Mumbai Indians in their season opener due to regular captain Hardik Pandya's absence, acknowledged Ashutosh's exceptional finishing abilities. He took to Instagram to post a story featuring a photo of Ashutosh Sharma, captioning it, "Grit, determination, self-belief at its best. Absolute carnage from Ashutosh Sharma."

During the previous season with Punjab Kings, Ashutosh garnered attention for his remarkable finishing abilities. Nevertheless, he concluded the season feeling somewhat unfulfilled, as he did not achieve his personal goals.

Although it is still early in IPL 2025, the 26-year-old, who represents Railways in domestic cricket, expressed his satisfaction with an impressive unbeaten score of 66 runs off 31 balls, which played a crucial role in reviving the Delhi Capitals on Monday night.

Ashutosh was quick to acknowledge the significant contribution of IPL newcomer Vipraj Nigam, as the two players turned the tide of the match after Delhi Capitals found themselves struggling at 113 for six while chasing a target of 210.

The controversial Impact Player rule enabled Ashutosh to deliver a standout performance. 

He shifted gears significantly after scoring just 20 runs from his first 20 balls. In a remarkable display, he amassed 46 runs from his final 11 deliveries, concluding the match with a six over the bowler's head, with most of his five sixes struck down the ground.

"I missed the chance to finish games on a few occasions last season. Throughout the year, I concentrated and visualized my success. I believed that if I could bat until the last over, anything was possible.

"Kudos to Vipraj. I encouraged him to keep attacking. He remained composed under pressure. I would like to dedicate this award to my mentor, Shikhar Dhawan paaji," Ashutosh remarked.
