India Supporter Removed from Adelaide Oval for Displaying 'Sandpaper' During IND vs AUS Test

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has proven to be as intense and fiercely contested as anticipated, even though only two of the five Test matches have been completed. There have been notable confrontations among players, particularly between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj during the second Test. Additionally, there appears to have been some commotion in the audience, as evidenced by a video that surfaced showing an Indian supporter being removed from the stands by stadium security at the Adelaide Oval.

In a widely circulated video on social media, an individual clad in India's Test jersey is reportedly seen waving a piece of sandpaper. The spectators in the stands can be observed playfully bidding farewell to him as he is escorted away from the vicinity in the footage.

Here is the viral video:

The reference to sandpaper pertains to the ball-tampering incident that occurred in 2018, during which then-captain of Australia, Steve Smith, confessed to altering the condition of the ball in a Test match against South Africa in Cape Town. This incident escalated into a significant scandal, resulting in the dismissal of Smith and David Warner from their roles as captain and vice-captain, respectively.

As a consequence of their actions, Smith, Warner, and Cameron Bancroft, who was observed concealing a piece of sandpaper in his trousers, received a one-year ban from all formats of cricket. While Smith and Warner successfully returned to international play, Bancroft has faced challenges in securing a position within the Australian team since that time.

India looking to take back the lead after pink-ball Test drubbing

The Adelaide Test was relatively brief, despite the numerous events surrounding it, with this video being the latest addition. India entered the match following a decisive victory over Australia in the first Test held in Perth, placing significant pressure on the home team. Mitchell Starc claimed six wickets as India was dismissed for 180 runs after batting first. In response, Travis Head delivered an impressive performance, scoring 140 runs off 141 balls, which propelled Australia to a total of 337 in their first innings. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj each took four wickets, with Siraj's dismissal of Head and the subsequent exchange between the two players resulting in disciplinary action from the International Cricket Council.

Once again, India's batsmen struggled against the Australian fast bowlers with the pink ball, as captain Pat Cummins secured five wickets, leading to India's all-out score of 175. Australia comfortably achieved the modest target of 19 runs during the first session of the third day. The upcoming third Test is scheduled to take place at the Gabba, where India previously achieved a historic victory against Australia, commencing on Saturday.
