India's cricket team achieved a remarkable victory against New Zealand in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, held at the Dubai International Stadium. The team successfully chased down a target of 252 runs, finishing with four wickets in hand and completing the task in 49 overs. The match commenced with the New Zealand captain winning the toss and opting to bat first. This decision was supported by opener Rachin Ravindra, who scored 37 runs and aggressively targeted the Indian fast bowlers during the power play. Indian captain Rohit Sharma quickly brought in spinners Varun Chakravarty and Kuldeep Yadav, which proved effective in dismantling the New Zealand top order.

The middle overs of New Zealand's innings were largely controlled by the Indian spin quartet consisting of Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarty, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja. They maintained tight lines and restricted the Kiwi batsmen from scoring freely. New Zealand managed to surpass the 250-run mark, largely due to half-centuries from Dary Mitchell (63) and Michael Bracewell (53). Kuldeep and Varun were the standout bowlers for India, each claiming two wickets.

As India pursued the 252-run target, they began strongly. Captain Rohit Sharma adopted an aggressive approach, scoring quickly against the New Zealand bowlers. He formed a solid opening partnership of 105 runs with Shubman Gill in just 18.4 overs. However, New Zealand made a comeback by taking three quick wickets, dismissing Gill (31), Kohli (1), and Rohit (76), leaving India at 122/3 after 26 overs.

Subsequently, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel steadied the innings, contributing 59 runs for the fourth wicket. Ultimately, it was KL Rahul (34) and Ravindra Jadeja (9) who guided India to victory, clinching the Champions Trophy title with four wickets remaining in 49 overs. Rohit Sharma was named Man of the Match for his outstanding innings of 76 runs.
