Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has commented on the ongoing debates surrounding cricketers sending messages to female actors, indicating that the matter is frequently overstated and that some actors may pursue publicity through such allegations.

During an appearance on Geo News’ “Hasna Mana Hai” program, Shadab openly addressed a fan's inquiry about whether he had ever communicated with actresses.

“Many female actors assert that cricketers reach out to them via social media, so have you ever messaged any actresses?” a fan queried during the broadcast.

In his reply, Shadab defended the actions of cricketers, asserting that there is nothing inherently inappropriate about these interactions. “Even if cricketers do send messages, what is the issue with that?” he stated.

He elaborated that social media platforms allow users the ability to block or disregard messages if they are unwanted. “Everyone has the option to block, so if you are not interested, simply do not respond. However, there are also instances where actors reply, indicating they are interested in conversing,” Shadab continued.

The 26-year-old also revealed that conversations regarding cricketers messaging actors occur within the dressing room. He noted that such topics often gain prominence during significant tournaments, suggesting that some claims may be motivated by a desire for attention.

“We have observed certain videos where situations are exaggerated, but the reality is different. Some actors engage in this for notoriety, particularly during tournaments or the World Cup when there is heightened scrutiny,” he remarked.

TikToker's recent remarks

Shadab's comments arise following allegations made by TikToker Shahtaj Khan, who claimed last year that she had been in communication with the cricketer via WhatsApp and Instagram, and had even suggested marriage to him.

In response, Shadab, who has been married for over two years to Malaika, the daughter of former Pakistan cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq, denied these assertions.

Shahtaj expressed her disappointment regarding Shadab's marriage, indicating that she was unaware of it at the time. She stated, “I felt disheartened after he got married, which is a natural reaction when someone you admire enters into a relationship with another. I was still in contact with him during that period but had no knowledge of his impending marriage.”

Nevertheless, Shadab refuted the allegations, asserting, “There is no truth to what has been claimed.”
