Ian Bishop, the former fast bowler for the West Indies, is widely recognized for his sharp game insight, thorough player evaluations, and attention to detail. It is uncommon to witness any missteps from Bishop in the commentary booth. However, April 15 (Tuesday) proved to be an exception, as a blunder from Bishop left TV presenter and ex-India cricketer Ambati Rayudu taken aback.

Rayudu was in the midst of filming the pre-match segment for ESPN Cricinfo Hindi prior to the IPL 2025 match between the Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders when Bishop, unaware that the cameras were active, approached to greet Rayudu and host Yash Jha.

"Hello, good to see you," Bishop remarked while shaking hands with a bewildered Rayudu, who rose from the sofa and responded, "Hello, sir!"

As Bishop turned to greet Yash, he was met with the reply, "We were in the middle of a Hindi recording."

A visibly embarrassed individual stood with his hands covering his face, even after the recording had concluded.

Rayudu and Bishop were part of the English panel scheduled for recording at the same time, which likely led to some confusion for Bishop.

Later, the two collaborated to complete the English recording, during which Bishop playfully teased Rayudu about his loyalty to the Chennai Super Kings, who had just secured a victory after suffering five consecutive losses in the tournament.

"When asked if he missed Rayudu, who was absent during CSK's win against LSG, Bishop remarked, 'I felt it in my spirit. Even in his absence, there was no real distance in the CSK partnership. I felt a joy from afar.'"

Bishop and Rayudu were also present for the mid-match and post-match shows. The lank commentator tried to hide by running from the camera's gaze when Andre Russell chopped a Marco Jansen delivery back onto his stumps. KKR were bowled out for 95 while chasing 112 for victory as PBKS defended the lowest total in IPL history.

Yuzvendra Chahal triggered a collapse in the KKR batting line-up by picking up four wickets. "Give Yuzi all the credit, but not being able to chase 111 on that pitched, confused me," said Bishop.
