There's a potential last-minute change in the schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). The match on April 6 (Sunday) between the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and the Lucknow Super Giants, originally set to be held at Eden Gardens, may be moved to Guwahati. This shift comes after the Cricket Association of Bengal raised security concerns, as reported by PTI just two days before the tournament kicks off.

According to PTI, CAB president Snehashish Ganguly stated, "The IPL match between KKR and LSG on April 6 is being relocated to Guwahati due to security issues on Ram Navami day."

Guwahati's Barsapara Stadium is already scheduled to host two matches for the Rajasthan Royals against KKR on March 26 and CSK on March 30.

Ganguly mentioned that the local police have indicated they cannot ensure sufficient security for the KKR vs LSG match, which is planned for the afternoon of April 6, coinciding with the Ram Navami festivities in Kolkata.

"We've notified the BCCI about the need to reschedule the match, but it seems there's no chance to hold it in Kolkata later, and I'm hearing it's likely to be moved to Guwahati," Ganguly explained.

The matchup between KKR and LSG, owned by RPSG Group chairman Sanjiv Goenka, was anticipated to attract a large crowd, given the strong local fanbase for both teams.

An official announcement from the IPL is still pending.

Last season, the IPL game between KKR and Rajasthan Royals was also rescheduled due to security issues on Ram Navami.

"I had multiple discussions with the Kolkata Police, and they confirmed they wouldn't be able to provide adequate security that day," Snehasish noted.

"If there's no police presence, managing a crowd of 65,000 becomes unfeasible," he added on Tuesday.
