IPL 2025 Shock Exit: Tilak Varma Finally Reveals Why He Walked Off
9 days ago | 5 Views
In the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians' batsman Tilak Varma emerged as the key player, scoring 59 runs off 33 balls. His performance was instrumental in helping the team, led by Hardik Pandya, achieve a total of 205/5 in their twenty overs. As the team prepared to face Axar Patel and his squad, there was considerable anticipation regarding how Varma would respond to previous criticisms, particularly after he was retired out by the management in a recent match against Lucknow Super Giants, a decision that ignited intense debate among fans and analysts.
The 22-year-old has now addressed the situation regarding his retirement against LSG. During that match against Rishabh Pant's team, Varma was at 25 runs from 23 balls when the management decided to substitute him with Mitchell Santner. Unfortunately, neither Santner nor Hardik Pandya could secure a victory, resulting in a loss for the Mumbai Indians.
Since that incident, Varma has made a significant comeback, achieving consecutive half-centuries against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals. Following the victory over Delhi, he shared his thoughts on the decision to retire him against Lucknow Super Giants.
In an interview with Star Sports after the match, Varma stated, "I didn’t think much of it. I understood that the decision was made for the benefit of the team. I chose to view it positively rather than negatively. Ultimately, it’s about how you perceive such situations that matters most."
He further expressed, "I just want to feel at ease regardless of where I bat. I assured the coach and staff, 'You can place me anywhere, and I will be comfortable and give my best.'"
Mumbai Indians win a thriller against Delhi Capitals
Mumbai Indians executed a remarkable bowling performance to clinch a 12-run victory over Delhi Capitals. Despite Karun Nair's impressive form, which had put the Mumbai Indians on the brink of defeat, his dismissal by Mitchell Santner allowed Hardik Pandya and his team to mount a comeback.
In a dramatic turn of events during the penultimate over, Delhi Capitals experienced three consecutive run-outs, ultimately leading to the five-time champions securing the win.
Tilak Varma has emerged as the second-highest run-scorer for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025, amassing 210 runs across five innings with an average of 42 and a strike rate of 143.83.
With this victory over Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians have moved up to the seventh position in the points table, achieving two wins out of six matches.
