
IPL 2025 Schedule Released: KKR vs RCB Open the Season, Final on May 25

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to start on March 22, featuring the opening match between the reigning champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens. RCB has already named Rajat Patidar as their captain, while KKR is still deciding on their skipper. The much-anticipated El Clasico matchup between the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will happen on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, also known as Chepauk, in Chennai.
The rematch between Mumbai Indians and CSK is scheduled for April 20 at Wankhede Stadium.
This season, RCB and Mumbai Indians will face off just once, with their game set for April 7, 2025.
March 23, 2025, will mark the first double-header of the season. The day kicks off with last season's finalists, SunRisers Hyderabad, going up against the Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The 2025 IPL season will launch 12 days after the Champions Trophy final on March 9. The tournament will take place across 13 venues, including the ten traditional home grounds, plus Guwahati (the second venue for Rajasthan Royals), Dharamsala (the second venue for Punjab Kings), and Vizag (the second home ground for Delhi Capitals).
In IPL 2025, there will be 74 matches spread out over 65 days, wrapping up the league stage by May 18. The playoffs are set for May 20-25, with the grand final taking place at Eden Gardens on May 25. Qualifier 2 will also be held at the same venue on May 23.
The Eliminator and Qualifier 1 are scheduled for May 20 and 21 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Punjab Kings will host three of their home games in Dharamsala, while the rest will take place in Mullanpur, Punjab.
Delhi Capitals and KKR still haven't revealed who their captains will be for IPL 2025
Delhi Capitals and KKR are the last two teams that haven't revealed their captain for the upcoming 18th season of the tournament.
Rajat Patidar is set to take the reins at RCB, and Punjab Kings have already appointed Shreyas Iyer as their skipper.
Rishabh Pant will be leading the Lucknow Super Giants after the team decided to move on from KL Rahul.
