Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have appointed former Indian all-rounder Sriram Sridharan as their assistant bowling coach in preparation for the upcoming 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise announced this new addition to their support staff through their official social media channels.

On X (formerly Twitter), CSK shared, "Welcome our assistant bowling coach Sriram Sridharan! From the grounds of Chepauk to an impressive coaching career in Australia and Bangladesh, he begins this exciting new chapter with great pride!"

Sriram will join the coaching team, which includes Stephen Fleming (head coach), Mike Hussey (batting coach), and Eric Simons (bowling consultant).

Sriram previously held the position of assistant coach for the Australian cricket team from 2016 to 2022, during which time he contributed to their victory in the T20 World Cup in 2021, held in the UAE. He stepped down from this role to focus on his responsibilities with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the 2022 season. In August 2022, he was appointed as a consultant for the Bangladesh team in preparation for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.

In September 2023, Sriram joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as an assistant coach for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Additionally, he has experience as an assistant coach with the Delhi Daredevils, now known as the Delhi Capitals.

Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead CSK in IPL 2025

Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to captain the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the forthcoming edition of the lucrative league, which is scheduled to commence on March 22.

CSK will initiate their campaign with a match against the Mumbai Indians on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The squad for CSK in this 18th edition of the tournament features prominent spinners including Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal, and Noor Ahmad. Additionally, Deepak Hooda and Rachin Ravindra will contribute as spin-bowling all-rounders.

Last season, CSK narrowly missed qualifying for the playoffs after suffering a defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Bengaluru. Although they finished with the same number of points as RCB, CSK's lower net run rate ultimately prevented them from advancing to the final four.
