The Capitals franchise is now operational. The Dubai Capitals have achieved their inaugural title by securing victory in the ILT20 tournament. Under the leadership of Sa Billings, the Capitals triumphed over the Desert Vipers in the final, winning by four wickets in the tournament's third edition. The match was fiercely contested, with Sikandar Raza's exceptional performance ultimately leading the franchise to victory in a thrilling showdown at the Dubai International Stadium.

Tensions escalated during the match when Mohammad Amir of the Vipers delivered a send-off to Gulbadin Naib of the Dubai Capitals. The left-arm pacer bowled a yorker that resulted in an LBW decision against Gulbadin. Following the dismissal of the Afghanistan all-rounder, Amir displayed his biceps in a gesture that appeared to mock Gulbadin.

In the aftermath of the Capitals' victory, Gulbadin voiced his dissatisfaction regarding the incident, emphasizing the necessity of respect within the sport. He remarked, "You will only receive respect if you extend it to others."

"I consistently assert that cricket is a gentleman's game. Mutual respect is essential. If you fail to show respect, you cannot expect it in return. He is aware of the respect he has forfeited through such actions. As a cricketer and as a human being, it is imperative to respect everyone," Gulbadin stated in an interview with The Hindustan Times following the final.

Gulbadin also expressed his gratitude for being part of the Dubai Capitals, noting that the franchise's management understands the importance of respecting players.

"The Capitals franchise is a significant entity. They support various sports, including cricket and kabaddi, and are deeply involved in cricket. This franchise values its players and recognizes the significance of sports. I consider myself fortunate to be associated with them."

'Afghanistan very passionate about the sport'

Regarding the forthcoming Champions Trophy, Gulbadin remains optimistic about Afghanistan's prospects, highlighting the nation's fervent passion for the sport and their commitment to giving their utmost effort.

Gulbadin expressed, "Our enthusiasm for this game is immense. We are deeply committed to the sport. Our supporters stand by us through both triumphs and challenges." He added, "We strive to give our utmost effort in every match. If we perform well, victory will surely follow."

Afghanistan finds itself in a challenging position within the 'Group of Death' in the Champions Trophy, having been placed in Group B alongside Australia, England, and South Africa. Their inaugural match of the tournament is scheduled against South Africa on Friday, February 21.
