The ICC Champions Trophy is poised to make its return in 2025 after an eight-year absence. This edition of the tournament will feature eight teams organized into two groups and will take place in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, commencing on February 19. Pakistan, the host nation, will enter the tournament as the reigning champions, having triumphed over India in the final of the last competition held in 2017. Although all matches will be conducted in Pakistan, India's games will be held in Dubai due to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) not receiving approval from the Indian government for travel to Pakistan, given the ongoing political tensions. Consequently, India's advancement in the tournament will determine the location of the knockout matches.

In Group A of the Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan are joined by Bangladesh and New Zealand, while Group B consists of Afghanistan, England, Australia, and South Africa. The team led by Mohammad Rizwan will commence the tournament on February 19 in Karachi.

The ICC has established January 12 as the deadline for submitting provisional squads for the Champions Trophy. While six teams have announced their 15-player rosters, India and Pakistan have yet to disclose their squads. Reports indicate that the BCCI has requested an extension for their announcement due to fitness concerns regarding Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav. India is anticipated to reveal their squad on January 19.
