How Rohit Sharma Sparked Shardul Thakur’s Famous Moniker

The Lucknow Super Giants are preparing to host the Mumbai Indians, which will feature several notable Indian players competing against one another. Among them are former MI captain Rohit Sharma and LSG's Shardul Thakur, both of whom have played together in the national team and in domestic cricket on numerous occasions.
The Mumbai Indians released a video showing Rohit approaching Thakur and LSG mentor Zaheer Khan, who humorously refers to himself as "Lord," a title he earned due to his occasionally extraordinary performances for Team India. Thakur remarks in Hindi, "Rohit Sharma comes to the ground to meet just one person: The Lord."
Rohit then responds, "Khudko the lord bolra hai" (He is calling himself the lord). Thakur replies, "Aur kya? Tune hi rakha hai naam!" (Why not? You are the one who gave me this name!).
Here is the video posted by MI:
Rohit has experienced a challenging beginning to the season, with dismissals resulting in scores of 13, 8, and 0 thus far. After his dismissal by Mohammed Siraj in the third match, former England captain Michael Vaughan remarked that the 37-year-old's statistics in the IPL are "average" and suggested that he remains in the team primarily due to his past achievements. "If your name isn't Rohit Sharma, you would likely find yourself out of the lineup at some point with those numbers," he commented on Cricbuzz. Analysts such as Manoj Tiwary and Virender Sehwag also voiced their criticisms of Rohit on the same platform.
In contrast, MI batting coach Kieron Pollard has dismissed these criticisms. The former all-rounder emphasized that Rohit has "earned the right" to remain unfazed by a temporary slump, given his extensive history of success. "I have played alongside Rohit since our Under-19 days, and he has established his name and secured his place in history through various situations and formats. He is a legend of the game, both as a player and as an individual," Pollard stated.
