Hilarious Moment: Akash Deep Frustrates Travis Head with Unintentional Ball Drop

Akash Deep accomplished a feat that has eluded other Indian players in recent times: he successfully got under the skin of Travis Head. During Day 5 of the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane, Akash Deep left Head visibly frustrated. Although the Indian pacer quickly offered an apology, the incident did not sit well with Head. This occurred on the second ball of the 78th over of the Indian innings when Akash Deep failed to connect with a delivery from Nathan Lyon, which became lodged between his left knee and pad. Instead of handing the ball to Head, who was positioned at forward short leg, Akash dropped it on the ground. Head did not attempt to conceal his displeasure.

In fairness to Akash, he promptly recognized his mistake and apologized to Head. Additionally, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey was overheard commenting to Akash, prompting him to turn and extend his apologies to Carey as well.

India resumed their innings at 252-9 in response to the hosts' total of 445, following a crucial 10th wicket partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep late on Tuesday, which enabled them to evade the follow-on.

They were ultimately bowled out for 260 just four overs into the first session on Wednesday, when Deep was stumped by wicketkeeper Alex Carey off the bowling of part-time spinner Travis Head. The right-arm pacer contributed a significant 31 runs from 44 deliveries. He and Jasprit Bumrah (10*) combined for a 47-run partnership for the last wicket, marking India's highest last-wicket partnership in Australia in over three decades.

India vs Australia 3rd Test heads towards draw

Rain commenced during the innings break, leading to the decision to call an early lunch.

The Test match has been significantly affected by persistent heavy rain throughout the week. A considerable portion of both Saturday and Monday was lost due to adverse weather conditions, while play on Tuesday faced three interruptions.

Travis Head's outstanding century placed Australia in a commanding position, while Steve Smith also showcased his return to form with an impressive hundred.

For India, opener KL Rahul contributed with 84 runs, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja added 77 runs, both making significant impacts.

It appears that both teams will enter the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne with the five-match series tied at 1-1.

India achieved a comfortable victory in the first Test held in Perth, but Australia responded with a decisive win in Adelaide.
