Harry Brook Roasted by Shastri and Gavaskar After Smog Comments and Another Spin Failure

England's middle-order batsman Harry Brook faced some serious backlash for his “smog” remark after he fell to Varun Chakravarthy once again during the 2nd T20I of the five-match series at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This marks the second time in a row that Chakravarthy has dismissed Brook in this series.

Before the match, Brook had commented on the smog in Kolkata, saying it made things tough for batters since they couldn’t see the ball coming from the bowler’s hand.

When Brook was bowled by Chakravarthy, commentators Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri took the opportunity to poke fun at him, referencing his earlier comments.

Chakravarthy completely outsmarted Brook, with the ball sneaking through the gap between his bat and pad. Although the delivery was well outside off, it turned sharply back in, leaving Brook completely confused.

"You don’t need the smog for this. Once again, it’s Varun Chakravarthy. This one has slipped through and smashed into the stumps," Shastri remarked.

Gavaskar added, “You said it yourself. The visibility is much better here. In Kolkata, there was some smog. No smog here. Had no clue where the ball was headed. Harry Brook is out for 13. Chakravarthy might be wondering, 'Is there any smog around?'”

What did Harry Brook mention?

Before the second T20I against India, Harry Brook mentioned that the smog in Kolkata made it tough to see the spinners clearly. He expressed hope for clearer skies in Chennai.

"Chakaravarthy is a really talented bowler. But with the smog the other night, it was much harder to see the ball. I’m hoping the air is clearer here so we can pick it up better," Harry Brook said.

As for the 2nd T20I, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl first. The home team made two changes, bringing in Washington Sundar and Dhruv Jurel for Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh.

England also switched things up, adding Brydon Carse and Jamie Smith to the lineup in place of Gus Atkinson and Jacob Bethell.

Earlier, India had taken the first T20I against England by seven wickets.
