Hardik Pandya's Champions Trophy Victory: A Prelude to More Success

India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya expressed his joy over the team's Champions Trophy win but emphasized that he’s still hungry for more titles. He mentioned that this mindset was the same after India clinched the 2024 T20 World Cup, and he’s thrilled to add another trophy to the collection.

"I've always aimed to win as many championships as possible. When we won in 2024, I mentioned that it wasn't enough; I still want 5-6 more trophies. So, I'm really glad we've added another one," Pandya shared, as reported by the ICC on their official site.

"For me, the key focus throughout my cricketing journey has been ensuring my team comes out on top."

Pandya played a crucial role in India's victories in both the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, which were just under nine months apart. He shared that the best feeling for him is donning the iconic blue jersey of India and stepping onto the field.

"It's incredibly satisfying and calming for me every time I take the field. Even if I can't guarantee a win, just being out there is the most beautiful feeling. Everyone showed their skills and belief at the same time," Pandya added.

Bouncing back from the heartbreak of 2017

India had a tough loss in the 2017 Champions Trophy final against Pakistan. They were the favorites going into the game, while Pakistan was seen as the underdog, but they pulled off a stunning victory in this intense rivalry. Despite the team's struggles at 72/6 while chasing a hefty target of 339, Pandya stepped up and led a remarkable comeback. He scored 76 runs off just 43 balls, forming an 80-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Ravindra Jadeja before getting run out due to a mix-up.

Reflecting on that match, Pandya said, “In 2017, I didn’t get to finish what I started. I’m really happy that tonight I can finally say I’m a Champions Trophy winner too. Feels great!”
