Veteran Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has advised Mohammed Shami to take personal responsibility for dismissing Travis Head early in the semi-final match against Australia. Head has previously delivered outstanding performances against India, notably in high-stakes matches such as the ODI World Cup Final and the World Test Championship Final. The aggressive opener also had a remarkable showing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he scored two centuries, contributing to Australia's victory over India in a Test series after a decade.

Head boasts a commendable record against India in ODIs, amassing 345 runs at an average of 43.12, which includes a century achieved during the ODI World Cup final.

Harbhajan has challenged Shami to secure the wicket of Head in this crucial encounter to ease India's path to victory.

"The first step is to eliminate any fear of Travis Head from your mind. Focus on getting him out. Shami, enough is enough with Travis Head; do not allow him to score runs," Harbhajan stated on Star Sports.

The seasoned spinner also cautioned about the formidable hitting abilities of Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis, advising bowlers to maintain composure and not overexert themselves.

"Additionally, they have powerful hitters like Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis, who excel in scoring sixes and fours. Prevent them from accumulating runs quickly. Remember, this is a knockout match; there is no need to overdo it—just play as you have been playing," Harbhajan Singh remarked on Star Sports.

IND look to replicate 2024 T20 WC success

Australia will be missing their fast-bowling trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. In contrast, India may opt for a four-spin strategy similar to their match against New Zealand, featuring a lineup of Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

Historically, Australia has posed significant challenges for India in ICC tournaments. Nevertheless, during their most recent encounter in the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal, Rohit Sharma and his team secured a decisive victory. It is worth noting that India faced defeats against Australia in the semifinals of the 2015 ODI World Cup and the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, as well as in the World Test Championship final in 2023.
