India, Feb. 11 -- Legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has shared insights into the personality traits of Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he shared a locker room at Juventus. Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, is celebrated for his warrior mentality on the pitch and his relentless pursuit of goals. He is the only player to have achieved the remarkable milestone of scoring 900 goals in professional football.

Ronaldo joined Juventus in 2018 after securing three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid. During his three-year tenure at Juventus, he made 133 appearances, scored 101 goals, and helped the club secure five trophies before departing Italy.

Buffon described Ronaldo as a sensitive individual who adopts a "Superman" persona to shield himself from vulnerabilities. 

"Cristiano is an exceptional person. For those who have had the opportunity to know him, both on and off the field, he is a sensitive young man. One can appreciate the challenging journey he experienced in his youth. He dons the armour of a superman to protect himself from his past and to draw others towards his persona," Buffon remarked in an interview with Tutto Juve.

The esteemed goalkeeper also noted that Ronaldo possesses a duality in his personality, which he finds admirable.

"There exists a duality: there is CR7 and there is Cristiano. I have a great appreciation for the qualities of the man. As a player, the level of cynicism and tenacity he exhibits is unparalleled," Buffon added.

In other news, Ronaldo is poised to extend his contract with Al Nassr for an additional year, lasting until June 2026, as confirmed by an official from the Saudi club to AFP on Monday. The official stated that both parties have reached an agreement on the renewable extension, although it has yet to be signed. An official announcement is expected in the coming days. Following a tumultuous conclusion to his second stint with Manchester United, Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023 and has since netted 82 goals in 90 matches. He recently celebrated his 40th birthday, with his current contract set to expire in June 2025.
