Mitchell Marsh's lackluster performance with the bat, coupled with his inadequate contributions as a bowler, has ultimately resulted in his removal from the Australian Test team. In his stead, debutant Beau Webster will take the field at the SCG for the fifth Test against India. Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, confirmed on the eve of the match that Webster will participate in this crucial Test, as Australia aims to secure the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in ten years.
Webster made his first-class debut just a year prior to Australia's last victory in February 2014. The upcoming fifth Test will mark the 31-year-old's international debut. This match will also see another player making his first international appearance, as opener Sam Konstas did so in the Boxing Day Test, captivating the cricketing community with an impressive performance.
