Vicky Kaushal's latest Bollywood film, Chhaava, has become a significant topic of discussion, garnering widespread acclaim since its release. Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer, has expressed his admiration for the film on social media, describing it as an “extraordinary narrative of courage, altruism, and a profound sense of duty.”
Nonetheless, he raised a pertinent question regarding the absence of education about Shambhaji, the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, in the country's curriculum. He pointed out that while historical texts often highlight Akbar as a “great and fair emperor,” there is a conspicuous lack of mention of Shambhaji.
For those unfamiliar, Chhaava premiered in theaters on Friday, February 14, and is experiencing remarkable box office success.
“Today, I watched Chhaava. It is an extraordinary narrative of courage, altruism, and a profound sense of duty. A genuine inquiry—why were we never taught about Shambhaji in school? There was not even a single mention,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“However, we did learn about Akbar being a great and fair emperor, and there is even a prominent road named Aurangzeb Road in Delhi. How did this come to be?” he questioned.
The film 'Chhaava' has surpassed the ₹100 crore milestone in India and is poised to achieve blockbuster status.
For those unfamiliar, 'Chhaava' narrates the iconic tale of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal. Rashmika Mandanna takes on the role of Maharani Yesubai, while Akshaye Khanna plays the part of Aurangzeb, the renowned Mughal emperor.
Aakash Chopra suggests radical change for IPL
Aakash Chopra previously proposed a significant modification for the Indian Premier League (IPL), advocating that teams should receive a bonus point if they win by a margin that surpasses a specific threshold.
This statement was made on Sunday, coinciding with the announcement of the schedule for IPL 2025.
"I have a proposal for the #TataIPL this season. Introduce a bonus point for victories that exceed a certain margin. While Net Run Rate (NRR) is an established method to assess performance over time, the benefits of this metric often become apparent only in the later stages. Bonus points would provide a clear, immediate incentive that is, to be honest, quite effective. What does the public think?" Chopra inquired.
IPL 2025 gets underway on March 22 with the opening match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The final will be played on May 25 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
