RCB sustained their performance in the ongoing IPL 2025 season with an 11-run victory over RR, on Thursday in Bengaluru. The game also featured Virat Kohli maintaining the challenge against Orange Cap frontrunner Sai Sudharsan. Kohli currently sits in second place in the Orange Cap standings, having amassed 392 runs in nine matches.

On Thursday, Kohli was once again in exceptional form, scoring 70 runs off 42 deliveries, as RCB set a total of 205/5 in 20 overs. He also struck eight fours and two sixes, continuing his aggressive and reliable T20 strategy for this season.

Aaron Finch hails Virat Kohli

Speaking On ESPNCricinfo, Kohli’s former RCB teammate Aaron Finch was questioned about whether many fans and experts underrated the captaincy of the former India captain. Finch provided a clear answer, emphasizing that Kohli’s consistency was one of RCB’s essential assets.

“Yes, I mean, if you are offered 650, 700 runs at the start of the year, from one of your top-three batters. No matter whether your strike rate is 150 or 200, you would take that every single day because that just allows your team the platform to play around,” he stated.

“That’s when you can place some cowboys in the middle order, ultra-high risk, and they attempted to do that with Livingstone, and it hasn’t quite worked. Last year, Maxwell engaged in that high-risk strategy as well, and Patidar seems to be looking overly aggressive as well. So it just provides you a platform, you know, once Virat gets in, very rarely does he get out at 30. So he goes deeper, plays aggressively around him and builds around that,” he continued.

Kohli’s performance has been crucial for RCB this season, who are currently sitting third in the IPL 2025 points table with 12 points in nine games, which includes six victories and three losses. In their next match, RCB will face DC on Sunday, in New Delhi.
