The 2025 Formula One season is set to kick off next month, with Australia hosting the opening Grand Prix. Last season, Max Verstappen dominated the competition, clinching his fourth consecutive Drivers’ Championship title, despite a late push from McLaren's Lando Norris.

As the new season approaches, Verstappen is aware that he’ll have tough competition from Lewis Hamilton, who has made the switch to Ferrari.

F1 drivers' earnings can vary a lot?

As the new season kicks off, Verstappen is raking in about $65 million, while Hamilton is close behind with around $60 million. Charles Leclerc sits in third place, earning roughly $34 million and teaming up with Hamilton this year.

Fernando Alonso and Lando Norris are both pulling in $20 million annually, with contracts that run through 2026. George Russell from Mercedes is making a hefty $15 million a season, and Carlos Sainz at Williams is set to earn $10 million each year until 2027. Meanwhile, Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon from Alpine are both getting $8 million per year.

Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon are on $7 million each annually, while Oscar Piastri is earning $6 million a season. On the lower end, Lance Stroll makes $3 million, and Yuki Tsunoda is at $2 million. Verstappen’s new teammate, Liam Lawson, is on a $1 million yearly salary.

In other news, Bernie Ecclestone believes Hamilton might not have a long stay at Ferrari. He shared his thoughts with The Telegraph, saying, “I don't think Lewis will get the same attention at Ferrari.”

He pointed out that the team is satisfied with Leclerc, who connects well with them. Even if Hamilton performs well, he might face some resistance since he’s the new guy. Ecclestone added, “It’s not about the age of the drivers, but how long they’ve been in the game. I feel like Lewis is getting a bit tired and has lost some motivation. If he hadn’t won a world championship, it might be different, but he’s already got seven titles.”
