Ex-Pakistan Star Claims 'Way Better Than Virat and Babar' as Champions Trophy Approaches

Virat Kohli is regarded as a unique talent, while Babar Azam is recognized as "exceptional" when in peak form. However, former Pakistan fast bowler Abdur Rauf asserts that Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, currently surpasses both players in terms of form. The three distinguished cricketers are set to participate in the eagerly awaited encounter between India and Pakistan in February during the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Rauf emphasized that Kohli's consistency and performance under pressure are unmatched. He stated, "Virat Kohli is incomparable. His class, consistency, and ability to perform under pressure distinguish him from others. Babar Azam, when in form, is indeed exceptional," as reported by the Times of India.

"Nonetheless, my personal favorite batsman is Rohit Sharma. I firmly believe that Rohit is the best batsman in world cricket at present, significantly better than both Virat and Babar."

All three players have recently experienced a decline in form. Nevertheless, Rohit showcased his prowess with a remarkable innings of 119 runs off 90 balls against England. Kohli contributed with a score of 52 runs off 55 balls in the subsequent match but was unable to reach his milestone of 50 ODI centuries. Babar, on the other hand, last achieved an ODI century in August 2023 against Nepal during the Asia Cup.

‘Can never predict outcome of an India vs Pakistan match’

The most recent Champions Trophy encounter between India and Pakistan also marked the final match of the tournament, held in 2017. India, considered the frontrunners for the championship, had previously dominated Pakistan, securing a victory by 120 runs (DLS method) in their earlier clash during the tournament. However, Pakistan subsequently found their form, advancing to the final where they faced India once more. In a remarkable turnaround, Pakistan triumphed over India by a substantial margin of 180 runs.

"It is impossible to forecast the result of a match between India and Pakistan. Currently, I perceive both teams as being evenly matched. The intensity of the game is always high, and it attracts fans from around the globe, not just from India and Pakistan. Both teams possess significant strength, making any prediction quite challenging," Rauf remarked.
