England Star Unfazed by Potential Whitewash, Warns Rohit Sharma & Co Ahead of Champions Trophy

Ben Duckett, England's dynamic opener, expressed that the team remains undeterred by the prospect of being whitewashed by India in the three-match ODI series. The English side has struggled to compete in the first two ODIs, thereby missing the opportunity to secure the series, which serves as preparation for the upcoming Champions Trophy. The batting lineup has not met expectations and has found it challenging to implement their Bazball strategy against Indian bowlers, particularly in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.

Although England attempted to adopt an aggressive style of play in the early stages of their innings, their momentum waned following the departure of one of the openers. While some observers view the series defeat as a troubling indicator for England ahead of the Champions Trophy, Duckett maintains that their primary objective is to triumph in the ICC event. He stated that a 0-3 loss to India would not be a concern as long as they secured victory against them in the final of the prestigious ICC tournament.

"We have come here for one thing and that is to win the Champions Trophy. If we lose 3-0 to India, I don't care as long as we beat them in the final of the Champions Trophy. It's about peaking at the right time. We've been close against India and been nowhere near our best. We will always take positives," Duckett conveyed to Sky Sports following England's defeat in the second ODI.

‘McCullum will never have a go at me for…’

The England opener established a strong foundation for his team to achieve a substantial total in the second ODI, scoring 65 runs off 56 deliveries, which included 10 boundaries, yet he was unable to reach a century. The visiting team ultimately fell short by 25 to 30 runs on a flat pitch in Cuttack, being bowled out for 304 runs.

Duckett expressed his dissatisfaction with his performance but affirmed his intention to maintain his current batting strategy.

"I am not satisfied with scoring 65 runs. However, I would not alter anything in my approach. Until my dismissal, I played well. [McCullum] would never criticize me for attempting to hit a left-arm spinner for six over midwicket with a shot I frequently execute. If we adhere to the options we practice, there will be no grievances in the dressing room," he remarked.
