Desperation or Strategy? Pakistan Brings in 'Special Coach' Ahead of India Clash!
1 month ago | 5 Views
Pakistan's Champions Trophy 2025 campaign is teetering on the edge of failure, with a critical match against India in Dubai poised to dictate their future in the tournament. Following a disappointing loss in their opening game against New Zealand, another defeat would result in an early elimination, occurring merely four days after the tournament's start.
In light of the escalating pressure, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has enlisted the expertise of former cricketer Mudassar Nazar to help revive their prospects.
Nazar, a well-respected figure with extensive knowledge of the UAE's playing conditions, has been appointed as a special coach in preparation for this pivotal encounter, as reported by the Times of India. His coaching background, which includes roles with Pakistan, Kenya, and the UAE, along with experience at the ICC’s Global Cricket Academy in Dubai, positions him as a significant asset to the team.
Acknowledging the distinct challenges presented by the Dubai pitch, the PCB is relying on his strategic insights to ready the team for their critical face-off against India.
Nevertheless, a report from NewsX indicates that consistency was lacking during their practice session in Dubai, with players frequently misjudging shots that resulted in height rather than distance. Additionally, Pakistan's fielding was marred by dropped catches and moments of inattentiveness.
Although Pakistan is the official host of the Champions Trophy, India's group-stage matches are being conducted solely in Dubai due to security concerns raised by the BCCI.
India's strong start
India has commenced the tournament with remarkable success, securing a victory over Bangladesh by six wickets on Thursday. The team exhibited an exceptional all-round performance, restricting Bangladesh to a total of 228 runs before Shubman Gill (101*) delivered an outstanding century to lead India to triumph.
Mohammed Shami's bowling was another significant highlight, as he achieved a five-wicket haul, while Harshit Rana contributed with three wickets in an impressive bowling effort.
A subsequent victory against Pakistan would nearly guarantee the team's advancement to the semi-finals. In their previous ODI encounter during the 2023 World Cup, India achieved a commanding win over Pakistan, triumphing by seven wickets in a lopsided match held in Ahmedabad.
