Delhi Police on Alert as Virat Kohli Prepares for Ranji Trophy Comeback After 12 Years

3 months ago | 5 Views

Virat Kohli's comeback is definitely the main attraction for the upcoming Ranji Trophy matches, and the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) is doing everything it can to make sure things run smoothly. Delhi will be facing Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium starting December 30.

DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma mentioned that they’ll be reaching out to the Delhi Police for extra security while also ramping up their own private security measures. He stated, “We’ll send a letter to the Delhi Police, and we’ve already boosted our private security. We’re making all the necessary arrangements to ensure fans have a hassle-free experience when they come to watch the match on January 30.”

“Gates 7, 16, and 15 will be open. Fans coming to watch will get to see Virat in action, and we’re all set to keep these three gates accessible.”

Around 8,000 to 10,000 fans are expected

Kohli hasn't played a Ranji Trophy match since November 2012, but he's making a comeback after the BCCI laid down a 10-point plan for players following their 3-1 loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which capped off a tough Test season. Kohli managed to score only 190 runs in that series, even though he did hit a century in Perth.

"Virat Kohli is set to play Ranji cricket after 12 years, and the fans are buzzing with excitement. The new players were thrilled when it was announced he would be playing. We’re expecting around 8,000 to 10,000 fans in Delhi to come out and support him because he has a massive following," Sharma mentioned. Kohli was supposed to play for Delhi against Saurashtra in Rajkot, but he had to pull out due to some neck stiffness.
