Moises Henriques, the captain of the Sydney Sixers, had a tough time with the bat during the Sydney derby against the Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. While chasing a target of 164 runs at the Sydney Showdown Stadium on Saturday, Henriques, who batted at No. 4, struggled to find his rhythm as his team fought to keep up.
Things took a strange turn on the field when Tanveer Sangha bowled a leg-break that was short and aimed at Henriques' leg stump. He attempted to pull the ball but ended up getting a top edge, sending it soaring into the air. It looked like an easy catch for Sam Billings, the Thunder’s keeper-batter, who was right behind the stumps, with Sangha also in the vicinity.
As the ball came down, Billings and Sangha both sprinted after it, but they completely lost sight of each other. They ended up letting the ball fall between them, giving Henriques a lucky break. It was a funny moment that brought back memories of Pakistan's fielding blunder in 2008, when Saeed Ajmal and Shoaib Malik found themselves in a similar mix-up.
David Warner, the Sixers' captain, was not pleased with the missed opportunity and let the two players have it.

The missed chance didn’t end up being too detrimental for Sydney Thunder.
Just a ball later, Henriques lost his wicket trying to hit a big shot, sending a high ball to extra cover and getting out for 17 runs off 22 balls.
Even with his struggles, Henriques’ dismissal didn’t throw off the Sixers' pursuit. Ultimately, Jordan Silk (36*) and Ben Dwarshuis (20*) teamed up to lead the squad to a solid five-wicket win, grabbing some important points in the BBL standings.
