Shubman Gill was taken aback during the toss on Monday when commentator Danny Morrison surprised him with a question about his marriage. At just 25, Shubman is seen as a key player for the future of Indian cricket and has already built a significant fan base in the country. Over the last couple of years, he has also demonstrated strong leadership skills with the Gujarat Titans, which led to his promotion as Rohit Sharma's deputy in the Indian ODI team. So far this season, he has shown himself to be a calm and collected captain.

However, when asked about his marriage during the toss against his old team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, he couldn't help but blush.

Danny Morrison, who was hosting the toss, asked the GT captain, “You look great! Any wedding plans in the works? What’s going on? Are you getting married?”

With a smile, Shubman responded, "No, nothing like that."

In the meantime, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bowl first at Eden Gardens. The defending champions made a few adjustments to their lineup, bringing in Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Moeen Ali to replace Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje.

The visitors, currently leading the table, added Washington Sundar to their starting XI, while Ishant Sharma and Arshad Khan were omitted. They could consider using one of them as an impact player during the second innings while bowling.

Shubman gives a shoutout to the GT bowlers

Shubman felt optimistic at the toss about setting a solid score on the pitch, praising his bowlers for their consistent performances.

"I don't expect any dew to be a factor. If we can set a decent total, it should lead to an exciting match. Our bowlers have all been stepping up and taking wickets. The way they've managed to control the runs has been outstanding," he mentioned.

He also expressed his support for his teammate Rashid Khan, who hasn't quite hit his stride this season.

"The skills he brings with his bowling and the energy he adds on the field are invaluable; any captain would be glad to have him on their side," Shubman noted.
