Pat Cummins is presently sidelined due to an injury, which has also resulted in his exclusion from the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. The Australian captain recently guided his team to a remarkable 3-1 victory against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, marking the end of a decade-long dominance by Rohit Sharma and his team.

Numerous fans, particularly from India, have highlighted the significance of the India-Australia rivalry on social media. Additionally, many supporters have drawn comparisons to the Ashes, asserting that the India-Australia series surpasses it in terms of competitiveness and excitement.

Pat Cummins compares Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Ashes

Cummins, who did not participate in the tournament in Pakistan, recently shared his thoughts on Australia's success in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, drawing comparisons to the Ashes series. He remarked, "It was an unforgettable summer for me. In terms of competitiveness, India has triumphed in the last few series here, while we have maintained a strong home advantage against England. This summer felt like a contest between the top two ranked Test teams, which made it feel more significant than usual," he stated during an interview with SEN radio.

"Nevertheless, losing an Ashes series at home feels catastrophic. In that regard, it remains a more substantial event," he continued.

Australia has also secured a place in the World Test Championship Final, where they will face South Africa. Despite Cummins' absence, the Australian team commenced their Champions Trophy campaign successfully, winning their opening match against England. Concurrently, India is also performing well, having achieved consecutive victories.

In the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since its inception in 1996, Sachin Tendulkar stands out as the most prolific batsman, amassing 3,262 runs across 65 innings. On the bowling front, Nathan Lyon holds the record for the most wickets, with 125 dismissals in 54 innings. India leads the series with 10 victories out of 17 Test series, while Australia has won six times, and one series has ended in a draw.
