Cristiano Ronaldo is poised to extend his tenure in Saudi Arabia and is nearing the finalization of a new contract with Al Nassr. Since his transfer from Manchester United in December 2022, Ronaldo has significantly increased the visibility of the Saudi Pro League. At 39 years old, he has not yet achieved the same level of success in terms of trophies with Al Nassr as he did with his previous clubs, a situation he is eager to rectify.

According to a report from the Spanish publication Marca, Ronaldo's forthcoming agreement with Al Nassr is expected to be financially compelling, and it will also grant him a minor ownership stake in the club. This new contract is designed to foster a long-term relationship between Ronaldo and Al Nassr, positioning him as a co-owner.

The report indicates that Al Nassr has proposed a five per cent ownership share to the Portuguese superstar as part of his new deal.

Ronaldo has previously expressed his satisfaction with life in Saudi Arabia, noting that his family is also content in their new environment.

"I’m happy and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good. In terms of individual and collective, we are still there. We are still improving," Ronaldo stated in an interview with the Saudi Pro League’s official media outlets.

He acknowledged the challenges of competing in the Saudi Pro League against formidable teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but he remains resolute in his ambition to secure additional titles.

It is challenging to compete against teams such as Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad; however, we remain committed and determined. Football encompasses both triumphs and setbacks. For me, the paramount aspect is to maintain professionalism, exert maximum effort, honour the club and the terms of my contract, and have faith that circumstances will improve—ultimately enabling Al Nassr to pursue additional titles, he remarked.

Ronaldo commenced 2025 on a positive note, netting his 11th goal of the season to assist Al-Nassr in securing a 3-1 victory over Al-Okhdood as the Saudi Pro League resumed following a month-long hiatus.

After Saviour Godwin provided Okhdood with an early advantage, former Liverpool player Sadio Mane equalized in the 29th minute.

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr two years prior, put the Riyadh team in the lead with a penalty three minutes before halftime. The 39-year-old Portuguese forward was the top scorer last season and currently trails Aleksandar Mitrovic of Al-Hilal by just one goal in the ongoing rankings.
