Team India's disappointing performance in Australia, which culminated in their loss of the esteemed Border-Gavaskar Trophy, prompted significant changes within Indian cricket. The defeat in a Test series after a decade brought about various consequences. Key players faced scrutiny regarding their futures, and private discussions from the dressing room were leaked, leading to further criticism. Gautam Gambhir's coaching tenure deteriorated, and Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement. Despite the turmoil surrounding the team during and after the tour, Indian cricket progressed, albeit with revised protocols.

In a bid to instill greater discipline among players, the BCCI implemented a stringent 10-point directive that players are mandated to adhere to. Among these, two pivotal rules emphasize the necessity of participating in domestic cricket and limiting family travel. However, a particularly noteworthy regulation that has not received ample attention is the restriction on the amount of luggage a player may carry. According to the new guidelines, a player is permitted no more than 150 kg of luggage. This measure was reportedly introduced after a 'star player' transported 250 kg of luggage to Australia.

A report from Dainik Jagran indicates that this unnamed player brought 27 bags on the tour. Notably, the majority of these bags did not belong solely to him; some were for family members and personal assistants. His own belongings included 17 bats, highlighting his status as a specialist batter. During his time in Australia, he traveled between cities, which compelled the BCCI to cover the associated costs. While the exact expenses remain undisclosed, they are estimated to be substantial.

If a player's luggage exceeds 150 kgs…

If a player's luggage surpasses 150 kilograms, the situation has prompted significant changes within the tour. Reports indicate that this practice began to influence other players, leading some to adopt similar behaviors. Consequently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented stricter regulations, stipulating that players traveling internationally are restricted to a maximum luggage allowance of 150 kilograms. Should this limit be exceeded, the player will be responsible for covering any additional costs personally.

As the Champions Trophy approaches, these regulations will be fully enforced. Players have been notified that their families will not be permitted to accompany them to Dubai, given that their stay will not exceed 25 days. According to the established guidelines, families may join players for up to two weeks during tours lasting 45 days or longer. This means that during India's upcoming tour of England, individuals such as Anushka Sharma and Ritika Sajdeh, spouses of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma respectively, will be able to attend matches alongside their partners.
