Cheteshwar Pujara Slams Rishabh Pant’s DRS Calls: “Often Clueless About Ball Trajectory”

Veteran Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara shared that Rishabh Pant often struggles to judge the ball's trajectory, especially when it comes to DRS decisions. Pant's captaincy has come under scrutiny due to the inconsistent performance of the Lucknow Super Giants this season. His batting struggles have only added to the pressure, as the hefty INR 27 crore price tag weighs heavily on him with each match.

Recently, Pant made a DRS mistake while chasing a 160-run target against his old team, Delhi Capitals. In the seventh over, young bowler Digvesh Kumar made a loud appeal for LBW against KL Rahul, which the on-field umpire turned down. However, Digvesh convinced Pant to review the decision, and the LSG captain obliged. Unfortunately, the replay showed the ball was clearly going outside the off-stump. Pujara, who has played extensively with Pant, mentioned that they've had numerous discussions about DRS in Test matches and noted that Pant often seems lost when it comes to judging where the ball is headed. 'I've talked to him a lot in the Test format,' Pujara told ESPNCricinfo. 'I know he doesn't really have a grasp on where the ball is going. As a wicketkeeper, he should have a better idea, but he tends to blame me for not knowing,' he added..

Rishabh Pant has another disappointing performance with the bat!

So, Pant came in at number 7 against DC and got out without scoring after just two balls. Even though LSG started strong, they lost their momentum in the middle overs and ended up falling short. They went from looking good for 180-190 runs to just scraping together 159/6. He explained the reasoning behind the lineup change, saying they wanted to 'capitalize.' 'The plan was to take advantage of the pitch. We sent Samad in to make the most of it. Then Miller came in, but we got stuck on the wicket. These are the kinds of things we need to work on to find our best lineup moving forward,' he mentioned after the game.
