India, Jan. 24 -- Widely regarded as the greatest chess grandmaster of all time, Magnus Carlsen boasts a peak rating of 2882, the highest ever recorded. He has held the position of World No. 1 in the FIDE rankings since July 2022 and is second only to Garry Kasparov in terms of time spent as the highest-rated player in chess history. Recently, Carlsen has garnered significant media attention, primarily due to the ongoing conflict between his organization, FCPC, and FIDE.

Additionally, Carlsen's recent performance in a Bullet Brawl match on chess.com has stirred considerable interest. Competing with the black pieces against an account named 'Nayemhaque22', Carlsen surprised fans by resigning after 50 moves, resulting in a rating decrease of -16. The Bullet Brawl is a competition for titled players, featuring a strict one-minute time control without increments. It was later revealed that Carlsen was defeated by a nine-year-old boy, Ryan Rashid Mugdha, from Bangladesh.

A FIDE Master named Naim Haque from Bangladesh disclosed that his student had triumphed over Carlsen in this online chess tournament. He shared the outcome on social media, stating, "He (Ryan Rashid Mugdha) couldn't participate in Bullet Brawl because he lacks a title. Therefore, I provided my Chess.com account. He played and defeated the five-time world champion and current top player in all three formats, Magnus Carlsen."

It is important to highlight that players are legally prohibited from transferring their accounts to others for such events, and chess.com has not yet issued a statement regarding this matter.

In an interview with Business Standard, Mugdha expressed his enthusiasm for the bullet format, stating, "It is my favorite."

"I appreciate the sense of urgency it creates; one must think and act swiftly. When I discovered I was paired with Carlsen, I was in awe, yet I remained resolute. After he made an error with his queen, I recognized that I was in a favorable position. I played instinctively, just as I would against any competitor," he remarked.

Additionally, his coach Haque noted, "When Mugdha achieved his FIDE rating at the age of five, it set a world record at that time. Although that record has since been surpassed, it remains a noteworthy accomplishment."
