Wearing the Chennai Super Kings jersey in the match against the Rajasthan Royals last month, Jamie Overton, the all-rounder from England, made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut this year. However, the MS Dhoni phenomenon left him speechless, even more so than the experience of playing in this area of the globe and participating in the most prestigious T20 event in the world. His experience was such that he texted his father, asking him to come to Chennai, just to let him see how popular the India legend was.

After personally witnessing how the Chennai crowd reacted to Dhoni's entrance to bat following Ravindra Jadeja's dismissal in his first home game at the Chepauk this season, Overton told ESPNcricinfo that he had sent a message to his father and his agent. The audience's support for Jadeja's run-out was what stunned him the most, as it allowed them to see the 43-year-old in action.

Following the first home game, I sent a message to my father and my agent. You have to go out there and feel MS walking out to the middle, I told him. [Ravindra] Jadeja was run out, and you had a home crowd rooting for a run out. "There is no other sound like it," Overton said, having seen Premier League games and a lot of other athletic competitions.

When asked two years prior whether he would want to bat higher in the lineup, Jadeja had already confessed that he would. "I keep hearing Mahi bhai's chants." The audience will wait for me to be out if I bat higher. I'm happy as long as the squad wins, he stated.

After The England celebrity also disclosed that he had managed to learn Dhoni's mind when it came to batting while watching him during his net sessions.

"My technique is more of an English or Australian version, with very high hands, whereas he holds the bat very low with his hands. "I'm trying to be a little lower and have my hands a little more relaxed since the spinners don't get as much bounce [in India]... I feel like I'm in a good place with my batting," he said.
