New Delhi: Following a challenging defeat at home to the Mumbai Indians on Sunday, the Delhi Capitals are eager to recover and regain their momentum at the Arun Jaitley Stadium this Wednesday. Their mid-week encounter against the Rajasthan Royals represents a significant early challenge, as they aim to secure an advantage on their home ground.

On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals come to the capital with the intention of returning to winning form, having suffered losses to the Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, leaving them with four points from six matches.

“We may be positioned low on the points table, but there are numerous positives to consider. Our focus is on overcoming our shortcomings and learning from them,” stated Nitish Rana during the press conference held before the match.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who at the age of 13 became the youngest player to sign an IPL contract with RR for ₹1.1 crore ahead of IPL 2025, was observed engaging in a nearly 45-minute net session with Zubin Bharucha, who guided him through various drills.

Although the Delhi Capitals faced an early setback at home, the atmosphere within the team remains optimistic. Since taking on the captaincy, Axar Patel has led the team to an unbeaten streak prior to the recent loss against the Mumbai Indians.

Pacer Mohit Sharma emphasized that despite the home defeat, Axar has been encouraging a positive mindset within the dressing room as the team prepares for a swift recovery.

“It’s a lengthy tournament, and losses are inevitable, but this defeat also provides an opportunity for the team to unite and collaboratively address our weaknesses. It is preferable to encounter challenges at this stage and identify issues now rather than later in the league,” Mohit remarked.

“Axar is the type of leader who keeps the atmosphere light. He has remained unchanged since becoming captain, and even after the loss, the dressing room is in a positive state.”

DC has not disclosed any information regarding the availability of Faf du Plessis, who is currently recuperating from an injury sustained during a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Should Du Plessis be fit to play, DC is likely to sideline Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has been out of form, and will retain Karun Nair in the lineup, following his impressive performance of 89 runs off 40 balls in a remarkable return for the team.
