England captain Jos Buttler had high praise for Rohit Sharma following his stunning century in the second ODI at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. The explosive Indian opener made a strong comeback, scoring 119 runs and silencing his critics as India took a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. After a tough red-ball season where he struggled, Rohit quickly found his rhythm again in the ODI format.

From the get-go, Rohit took control against the English bowlers, and even a brief delay due to floodlight issues couldn’t slow him down. He reached his half-century in just 30 balls and went on to notch his 32nd ODI century.

Buttler was clearly impressed, noting that Rohit demonstrated how to excel in modern ODI cricket.

"He really showed that in today’s game, playing 50-over cricket is all about being dynamic and aggressive. His scoring rate confirms that the way we want to play is indeed the right approach to winning games," Buttler remarked during the post-match press conference.

While the English team struggled to adopt their aggressive style during the tour, Rohit’s performance served as a perfect example of how to do it right, according to Buttler.

"The way Rohit played is a reminder that our approach to cricket is valid and effective."

"But it’s also a good reminder for us all that if someone like Rohit can feel the pressure, we should cut ourselves some slack," Buttler added after their four-wicket defeat.

Rohit's impressive 119 runs made chasing down the 305 runs a breeze for India, who wrapped it up in just 44.4 overs to take the series.

Buttler pointed out that Rohit's performance was a valuable lesson for players from both teams.

"He's been a fantastic player for a long time, and top athletes usually deliver when it counts, which he definitely did today."

"Whenever you're up against great players who are in form, like that, I’m sure everyone on both sides is taking notes. He played an outstanding innings, showing how he can shift gears, handle pressure, and really put the heat back on the opposition," he added.
