2 months ago | 5 Views
India's premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has made his return to bowling following a hiatus of over a month due to a back injury. He experienced back spasms during the fifth and final Test of the series against Australia in Sydney, which resulted in his absence from the crucial second innings, contributing to the team's 3-1 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Initially, Bumrah was included in India's Champions Trophy squad; however, he had to withdraw as he did not recover in time for the tournament.
At 31 years of age, Bumrah has been a cornerstone of the Indian cricket team, significantly contributing to their T20 World Cup victory last year. He also emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the Test series against Australia, achieving 32 dismissals over nine innings.
Bumrah recently posted a video on his official Instagram account, showcasing his bowling practice in the nets.

Many fans hilariously requested Bumrah to make a ‘wild card’ entry for India at the Champions Trophy, where the side has already booked a semi-final berth.

The prominent fast bowler was present in Dubai during India's Champions Trophy match against Pakistan last Sunday, where he received two prestigious ICC awards. These accolades included the esteemed Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for Cricketer of the Year and the Test Player of the Year award.
Bumrah's exceptional 2024
Jasprit Bumrah had an outstanding Test season in 2024, solidifying his reputation as one of the most formidable fast bowlers globally. Over the course of 13 matches, he secured an impressive total of 71 wickets, significantly surpassing his closest rival, England’s Gus Atkinson, who took 52 wickets in 11 matches. Bumrah’s remarkable performance was highlighted by an extraordinary average of 14.92 and an impressive strike rate of 30.1, placing him among the elite match-winners.
His ability to maintain consistency across various playing conditions further accentuated his achievements. At home, he was instrumental in India’s five-Test series against England, where he captured 19 wickets, consistently troubling the opposition with his speed and precision. However, it was his performances in Australia that truly showcased his exceptional talent.
Throughout the year, he also made his mark in cricket history alongside India’s legendary bowlers. Bumrah became only the fourth Indian bowler to achieve 70 or more wickets in a single calendar year in Test cricket, joining the ranks of Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, and R. Ashwin.
