A decision about Jasprit Bumrah's involvement in the 2025 Champions Trophy is expected to be made on February 11, which is also the deadline for final squad submissions. Bumrah, who got injured during the last Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, was included in the provisional 15-man squad for the current ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy.

Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to play in the series, and there's still no clear update on his injury. Ajit Agarkar, the chairman of selectors, had mentioned on January 18 that he hoped Bumrah could join the third ODI, but that now seems unlikely.

As reported by ESPNCricinfo, Bumrah recently underwent a scan on his back at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The BCCI's medical team will work with the selectors and the Indian team management before making a final call. Earlier reports suggested that the 31-year-old is expected to start his rehabilitation soon, which will include some gym exercises and possibly light bowling.

Bumrah's collapse in Australia

Bumrah was pretty much the backbone of the Indian bowling attack during the five-match Test series in Australia, which ended with a 3-1 loss for the visitors. While the other bowlers didn’t quite step up, Bumrah’s performance was often hailed as one of the best individual showings in a Test series down under.

Unfortunately, all that hard work caught up with him in the final Test, and he couldn’t bowl in the second innings. The 31-year-old wrapped up the series with 32 wickets over nine innings, boasting an impressive average of 13.06. Prior to that, he was named player of the tournament in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which India clinched.
