Bruno Fernandes Responds to Roy Keane's Critique: "I Do Things My Own Way"

Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, responded to Roy Keane's criticism following the Red Devils' 3-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League. Back in February, Keane had some sharp words for Fernandes when Manchester United struggled to deliver consistent performances. Since then, Fernandes has really stepped up, even scoring a hat-trick against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League last week.
In the recent Premier League match against Leicester City, Fernandes not only scored a goal but also assisted another, contributing to the team's 3-0 win. After the match, he spoke to Sky Sports about the criticism, mentioning that he prefers to do things his own way.
He noted that the criticism doesn’t really motivate him, but he still holds a lot of respect for Roy Keane.
"I have my own approach. It’s not great to hear negative comments, but it can push you to improve, especially when people point out areas where you can do better," Fernandes shared with Sky Sports.
"I try to take it positively, considering whether there’s room for improvement or not. I have immense respect for Roy Keane," he added.
There's plenty of room to enhance my skills
Bruno Fernandes admitted that there's plenty of room for him to grow in his game, and he takes feedback in stride. He understands that not everyone will agree with his actions.
"Of course, not everything I do will please everyone, and I respect all opinions. I have a lot of respect for Roy Keane, and I know I can improve in my game, my leadership, and in all aspects of my life," Fernandes shared.
This season, Fernandes has contributed to 31 goals, trailing only behind Mohamed Salah (54) and Erling Haaland (33) in the Premier League.
"Against Arsenal, we played a bit deeper because we felt they lacked pace up front. You can see some progress, but we need to keep it going. We have some crucial matches ahead," he noted.
"I aim to score as many goals as possible since it's a key part of my game, and I also need to support my teammates. I have to get into goal-scoring positions because that's one of my strengths," he added.
With this victory, United climbed to 13th place in the league. Their next match is against Nottingham Forest on April 2.
