Bruno Fernandes Responds to Keane: "I’ll Keep Doing It My Way"

India, March 17 -- Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, responded to Roy Keane's criticism following the Red Devils' 3-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League. Keane had previously directed sharp remarks at Fernandes in February when Manchester United struggled to deliver consistent performances. Since that time, Fernandes has elevated his game, notably scoring a hat-trick against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League last week.

In the Premier League match against Leicester City on Sunday, Fernandes not only scored a goal but also provided an assist, contributing significantly to the team's 3-0 triumph. In an interview with Sky Sports after the match, Fernandes addressed the criticism, stating that he prefers to approach the game in his own manner.

He mentioned that such criticism does not serve as motivation for him, although he expressed a deep respect for Roy Keane.

"I approach things in my own way. Naturally, it is unpleasant to hear negative comments about oneself, but at the same time, it can be motivating, and it indicates that people believe there are areas where I can improve," Fernandes remarked to Sky Sports.

"It is essential to interpret feedback positively, whether it highlights areas for improvement or not. I hold Roy Keane in high regard," he continued.

Fernandes recognized that there is considerable potential for growth in his game and that he takes criticism in stride. He acknowledged that not all of his actions will resonate with everyone.

"Clearly, not everyone will appreciate or agree with everything I do, and I respect differing opinions. I have immense respect for Roy Keane and recognize that there is significant room for improvement in my game, my leadership, and all aspects of my life," Fernandes stated.

This season, Fernandes has been involved in 31 goals, a tally surpassed only by Mohamed Salah (54) and Erling Haaland (33) in the Premier League.

In reference to the match against Arsenal, Fernandes stated, "We adopted a deeper position on the field, as we perceived that they lacked significant pace in their attack. While there are signs of improvement, it is essential that this progress continues. We have crucial matches ahead."

He further expressed, "My objective is to score as many goals as possible, as it is a vital aspect of my performance, and I also aim to support my teammates. I need to position myself near the edge of the box to capitalize on scoring opportunities, as this is one of my strengths."

Following this victory, United has ascended to the 13th position in the league standings. Their next match will be against Nottingham Forest on April 2.
