India, April 17 -- A dramatic UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg match unfolded at the San Siro between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, culminating in heightened tensions. As the German side sought an equalizer in the closing moments of a thrilling contest, their Croatian defender Josip Stanisic became overwhelmed with frustration.

In the dying seconds of injury time during the second half, Stanisic attempted to execute a quick throw-in but inadvertently pushed a ballboy off his stool, which hindered his efforts to resume play swiftly.

This incident sparked a brief altercation between Stanisic and the Inter bench, leading to a yellow card for Federico Dimarco, an Inter fullback who had been substituted, due to his reaction to the incident. Notably, Stanisic faced no disciplinary action from the referee.

Following the match, the 25-year-old Stanisic expressed regret for his actions. "Every team in the world tries to waste time when they are ahead. It was rather foolish of me to push him," he acknowledged in an interview with the German newspaper Abendzeitung. "I was simply angry at that moment."

Bayern ultimately lost the quarterfinal tie 4-3 on aggregate to Simone Inzaghi's Inter, who are aiming for their second Champions League final appearance in three seasons.

In the evening match, Inter held a 2-1 advantage from their previous victory at the Allianz Arena, but they faced significant pressure from the Bavarian giants early in the second leg.

Harry Kane found the net shortly after halftime, skillfully placing the ball past Yann Sommer to level the aggregate score at 2-2. This goal ignited a response from Inter, as Lautaro Martinez swiftly restored the lead for the Nerazzurri, capitalizing on a corner that fell favorably. Shortly thereafter, former Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard extended Inter's advantage with a powerful header.

Bayern managed to reduce the deficit with a goal of their own, as Eric Dier executed a looping header from a corner, bringing the score to 4-3 with nearly 15 minutes remaining in regulation. Despite Bayern's persistent threats, they struggled to create sufficient clear opportunities to equalize.

Inter successfully maintained their lead, advancing to the semifinals in pursuit of a coveted treble. The Italian side currently leads Serie A by three points and is set to compete in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal against their fierce city rivals, AC Milan, next week. Inter previously achieved the treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010 and aims to replicate this success under Inzaghi.

In the semifinals, Inter will encounter a formidable Barcelona team, which advanced past Borussia Dortmund with a 5-3 aggregate score. Despite Serhou Guirassy's hat-trick at Signal Iduna Park, it was insufficient to overcome Barcelona's 4-0 advantage from the first leg at Camp Nou.

In the other semifinal, Paris Saint-Germain will take on Arsenal following the English team's impressive 5-1 aggregate triumph over the reigning European champions, Real Madrid.
