The intense rivalry between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is poised to continue in IPL 2025, with both teams scheduled to face each other twice during the league phase. Their initial matchup will occur in Chennai on March 28, followed by a return game in Bengaluru on May 3.

The competition between these two southern powerhouses has always been intense, making their encounters some of the most eagerly awaited events in the tournament. The tension was particularly palpable during their last showdown in IPL 2024, where RCB clinched a dramatic victory that secured their playoff spot, while CSK faced a painful elimination. The exuberant celebrations from the RCB side following that win underscored the significance of the triumph for them.

As the new season approaches, former CSK player Subramaniam Badrinath has added to the rivalry's excitement. He took a playful jab at RCB by posting a humorous video on Instagram, where he interacts jovially with representatives from every IPL team—except for RCB.

In the video, Badrinath, representing CSK, greets and embraces the other team representatives. However, when the RCB representative appears, Badrinath pointedly ignores him and walks away.

The video quickly went viral on social media, igniting enthusiasm among CSK fans while teasing their enduring rivals.

Historically, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have established themselves as a formidable presence in the Indian Premier League (IPL), clinching the championship title five times and exemplifying remarkable consistency. They were pioneers in achieving consecutive titles, defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final of 2011.

In contrast, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, despite boasting a lineup filled with star players over the years, have yet to secure the prestigious IPL trophy. They have reached the finals three times, with their most recent appearance in 2016 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, where they were defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

A significant topic of discussion leading up to IPL 2025 is the change in leadership at RCB. Rajat Patidar is set to assume the role of captain, marking his debut in IPL captaincy. The franchise opted not to retain former captain Faf du Plessis during the mega auction, indicating a shift in strategy.

Conversely, CSK will maintain its leadership under Ruturaj Gaikwad, who took over from MS Dhoni prior to IPL 2024.
