On Thursday, Babar Azam, the prominent cricketer from Pakistan, announced via social media that he had misplaced his phone along with all his contacts, assuring that he would reconnect with everyone shortly. This revelation elicited a humorous response from fans online, many of whom chose to tease the former captain of the national team.

In the evening, Babar shared this update on X, previously known as Twitter, stating: “I have lost my phone and contacts. Will get back to everyone as soon as I find it.”

While a handful of fans expressed their concern and urged for the phone's return, the majority opted to make light of the situation, with comments such as, “This too shall pass,” echoing the supportive words Babar had previously shared with Virat Kohli during a challenging period in the Indian cricketer's career.

Babar Azam gears up for Champions Trophy

Babar, who has primarily played as a middle-order batsman in One Day Internationals, is poised to assume the role of an opener in the upcoming Champions Trophy. This significant transition is reportedly influenced by the successful career shift of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who moved from the middle order to the opening position.

According to a reliable source, Aaqib Javed, the senior selector and interim head coach of Pakistan, along with other selectors, discussed this change with Babar following the injury of Saim Ayub, who suffered an unfortunate accident during the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town last month.

The source informed PTI that it became evident the day after Saim's injury that he would be sidelined for a minimum of two months, making his participation in the Champions Trophy highly unlikely.

Furthermore, the selectors reminded Babar of Tendulkar's career resurgence after he began opening the innings. They expressed their belief that Babar could replicate Tendulkar's success as an opener, noting his prior experience in that role during T20 matches.
